ok, calling it the GC.NUG Road Show is a bit of a stretch, since it was just me and John Lunsford, but we had a great time.
John and I made the 2+ hour drive from Charleston, SC up to Columbia, SC to visit the Columbia .NET User Group. The weather was pretty lousy, with lots of wind and rain for most of the drive but nothing we couldn’t handle. We were in a hurry to get there by 6pm, but they have a much more relaxed bunch than we do and things didn’t really kick off until almost 6:30. (Note to self: More social time at beginning of meeting is a good thing. Might re-structure our meetings…)
John was the scheduled speaker, and I was there to spread some GC.NUG love in the form of swag. Tore (the UG leader) runs a good group and they had a good turnout (around 25+). It was nice to finally meet him face to face. Also, there was plenty of swag for everyone, so nobody went home empty handed! Good pizza too!
John’s session was great (of course) and he got lots of questions from people in the audience. I learned a lot about .NET encryption options, and since I missed his session at Code Camp… it was a worthwhile trip for me!
Ran into David Friedline at the UG meeting, who I had originally met at the Charlotte Code Camp. Dave’s a funny guy, and it was good seeing him again. Saw a couple of familiar faces from the Charleston Code Camp there as well.
